Client Feedback

Andrea supervised me throughout my LCSW licensure from 2013-2016. I cannot say enough to express Andrea’s knowledge and experience in SA, MH and dual diagnoses. She is highly knowledgeable about the biological causes of substance abuse and mental health issues, the psycho-social effects they produce, and counseling techniques used to manage these effects. Andrea was extremely flexible and easy to work with and is honestly one of most joyful and “full of life” people I have ever known. Thanks so much Andrea for your dedication to the field; we are so lucky to have you!

Andrea Morris is/was my LPCA/LCAS-A supervisor just over a year now. I remember our first meeting and felt really at ease, accepted, and found her really easy to talk to. In the past year, I’ve grown both a relationship and appreciation of her. She has been open to growth herself and has balanced respecting my decisions/thoughts with offering invitations to try something else.

I appreciate her curiosity about thoughts and actions I’ve shared with her. She has slowed me down and stopped me when I needed to take a breath. I learned so much from her and am feeling sadness I haven’t shared this with her directly and in person. She has shown and continues to share with me ethical considerations I hadn’t thought of and authenticity in the supervisor/supervisee relationship. I also valued her input not only with the supervision we had both contracted for, but also with things like looking at my private practice website, sharing her experiences in private practice/therapeutic relationships, marketing, and bouncing ideas off of her. She encouraged creativity. She appreciated and asked for feedback which made me feel valued. She was/is highly flexible in both simple things such as scheduling and in more complex areas such as hearing areas where I disagreed with her viewpoint and seeing me as a professional and not just a “supervisee.” I also experienced Andrea as incredibly humble in her role as a supervisor and being open to learning different ways of doing therapy, sharing with me resources that she had learned about, connecting me to other, like-minded people, and other things that she thought I might be interested like a workshop, training, or article. Lastly, I valued her authenticity. She was herself. She modeled self-care, compassion, vulnerability, and created a space for me to do the same. She made/makes me laugh and reminds me not to take myself and others too seriously. She taught me to say no to things outside of my circle of goals. She said “I don’t know” when she didn’t know the answers and frequently offered information that had never crossed my mind. She said she believed in me and that she trusted me in moments where I was doubting myself and didn’t trust my decisions. She appreciated my mistakes and helped me process/learn from them. She respected where I was coming from, heard me, and I felt my thoughts, feelings, and behaviors were of value to myself, my clients, and to her. I could keep going…wow. While I recollect several moments where I’ve felt gratitude towards her and appreciation, I didn’t realize how much I have been touched by her personal and professionalism in mind, body, and spirit. Thank you

Rare is the opportunity to witness someone who brings such a wealth of clinical knowledge, breadth of effective peer supervision, and passion for wellness to bear upon “the training moment” as I experienced with Andrea as a peer trainer. My training experience with her was an authentic encounter with a true recovery champion. She presented the power of peer supports and recovery in way that was for me truly “life-altering”. Her effectiveness extends way beyond the training moment and she continues to be a true mentor to me and to more than 500 other peers who have shared in that same experience. She is “ridiculously effective” and her passion for wellness, resilience and for peer supports is truly “infectious”. Any peer or professional seeking effective training or competent clinical supervision or consultation, I point you to Andrea Morris.

Andrea instructed over 20 faculty and staff from A-B Tech Community College in the Continuing Education Department and it was the most valuable training we have ever had. Working with students from all walks of life we felt very unprepared for some of the scenarios we were dealing with. Andrea equipped us and made us feel confident in knowing the next step to take in case of a mental health crisis. The training was intense and full of great information. Andrea’s style is very warm and open and everyone felt we were in a safe and trusted environment. This training is vital for anyone who works with the public.

Andrea and Christine are a dynamic team offering experience, knowledge & effective communication from their hearts and with the promise of the highest quality support to anyone moving on to become a PSS.
For those wanting to serve in Mental Health or with any challenged populations, I can’t recommend this training highly enough. All staff, whether “clinical” or not, should be able to respond well and skillfully. The Mental Health First Aid has done that for all the staff at Horse Sense of the Carolinas!–Shannon Knapp, President, Horse Sense of the Carolinas, www.HorseSenseOtc.com
The PSS training surpassed my expectation in every way. Andrea was incredibly well-prepared, knowledgeable and one of the very best trainers I’ve ever seen. She kept it lively and engaging. One of the best parts about her facilitation is that she was never afraid to say, ” I don’t know”. The material was very solid and there was a balance of role-play, slides, reading, discussion, etc. I wish every person who works in the mental health care field in any capacity would receive this training.
I felt hopeless. I was covered in darkness and with the help from everyone and my determination, I feel like myself again. I got my life back.
I had a really dismal look on life thinking there was nothing I could do due to my mental illness. Peer Support Specialist (class) has given me a purpose and gives me a chance to help others struggling with the same challenges that I have had in my life journey.
Andrea is an AWESOME teacher, one thing she always said to reassure us is you will able to pass your test and I always thought how does she know that? That shows her excellent ability to teach and say, “Yes you will be able to pass her test by the end of her classes!
My favorite thing to observe and participate in Andrea’s class were the role plays. It really gives you a clear understanding of what you are learning.
I feel like I have a lot of experience with which I can help others.
After completing the Mental Health First Aid course, I am, now, confident in my ability to respond to people in crisis.
The skills I gained allow me to a link between this population and the resources that will promote self-efficacy and to provide hope for those who believe their situation is hopeless.
After 17 years clean and sober, I thought I knew a lot about substance abuse but I had no idea about recovery from mental health issues. I am so grateful that I learned that one can recovery from mental disorders, that a person with a mental disorder can take responsibility of their life and their recovery. Andrea is a great teacher with a wonderful energy level.
Having the MHFA training has proven to be a very valuable resource. Learning about and thinking through various scenarios where one might use the MHFA information in the easy-going and low stress, environment you provide coupled with your well-seasoned knowledge and experience helped me be prepared to refer individuals to needed services quickly and confidently.

We have worked with Andrea for the past two years to train my staff in Mental Health First Aid.  Not only have my staff who have been though the training said that the information is extremely beneficial, they also love Andrea’s presentation style.  Andrea is very easy to coordinate training sessions with and has a strong grasp/knowledge base on the information she is presenting. I would highly recommend this training and working with Andrea. (College/ University Staff)
