Annie Fongheiser, MS, MAC, LCAS, CCS has provided clinical Supervision and trainings for 20 years. It is an honor to gain access to her experience and skill in WNC on September 29th, 2017

Annie Fongheiser received an undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina in business and psychology, a Master of Liberal Arts with an emphasis in psychology from Winthrop University, and a Master of Science in clinical addiction psychology from Capella University.  She is a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), and a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC)

 

Annie has provided clinical and administrative supervision and trainings for 20 years. She has been responsible for the growth of several clinical programs in a variety of residential and outpatient facilities. She taught for York Technical College for 3 years then, in 2005, she accepted a faculty position at the University of Phoenix, Charlotte campus, facilitating course in psychology.  In 2007, she became the University of Phoenix Lead Faculty, Area Chair for the College of Humanities and Sciences. In addition, she currently holds the position of Business Development Representative of the Carolinas for The Treatment Center of the Palm Beaches in Lake Worth, Florida.

Motivational Interviewing (8 hours)

Psychiatric Advance Directives (PADS) were created to inform individuals of their rights under state law to make decisions concerning their own health care, including the right to accept or refuse treatment and the right to formulate advance directives. PADS are useful and effective wellness tools and empower consumers of psychiatric services to drive their own care. PADS are “empowerment tools” and are complementary to person centered thinking and treatment. This training covers ethical and legal uses of PADS and may be useful for any person or groups either providing or receiving mental health/ substance abuse services. **NCSAPPB CEUs available- 4 hours**

Planning for Crisis:  Effective Crisis Prevention and Intervention Strategies (4 hours)

Suicide Awareness and Prevention (4 hours)

Participants in this training will gain information about global, national, and regional suicide statistics. They will develop an understanding of suicide as a public health crisis, identify risk factors and at risk populations, and gain access to local resources. We will discuss how mainstream media may be harmful and examine how this epidemic is currently being managed. At the end of this training, we will walk away with improved suicide literacy and skills aimed at prevention and crisis response.

Recovery Concepts and Language (4 hours)

Participants will learn basic recovery and wellness concepts, examine recovery definitions (SAMHSA, NAPS, Etc.), examine personal biases, and personal understanding and tolerance of recovery based practices. Additionally, we will have an introduction to recovery based language, examine personal language as it relates to recovery models, and begin to understand the impact of language in relation to treatment. Topics discussed will also include the dangers of labeling and the link of language to self-identification and self-worth as well as gaining additional resources to recovery model language and best practices.
